StyleEase Software, LLC started developing solutions for academic writers in 1990, and our continuous attention to improving and keeping our products up to date made us the leader in the academic formatting software industry.

We owe our beginnings to the mutual need of our two founders: to write their psychology Master's theses in APA format. Gary Hillerson used his software and technical writing background, and Mark Lange used his marketing skills to develop the original APA-style software product, FormatEase, in 1991.

After selling FormatEase to Guilford Publications, we decided to create a new and better APA product, using all we had learned from our customers over the years to generate a more comprehensive and more intuitive product, StyleEase for APA Style.

After that product met with great success, we applied our knowledge to creating products for students and professionals who need to write in other formats, including StyleEase for Chicago/Turabian Style and StyleEase for MLA Style. And after creating a customized version for several seminary schools, we published our latest product, StyleEase for Seminary Style.
