Updating Your Document for Printing

When you're ready to print your document, it's a good idea to use the StyleEase print preparation feature to make sure that your references are correctly sorted (alphabetized) and that all of your special lists have the correct page numbering. StyleEase normally updates everything automatically, but you should consider using print prep before your final print, just to make sure.

Click Prepare for Printing in the StyleEase menu or click Print Prepare on the StyleEase ribbon tab to display the Print Preparation screen, which is shown below. Select the updates that you want to perform before printing, and then click OK.

Note: The example screen and option descriptions on this page are from the StyleEase for APA Style product; other products are similar but not exactly the same.

Print Prepare Screen

You can use the following print preparation options:

Modify page layout, document title, and/or running heads

Select this to have StyleEase open up the Page Headers and Numbering screen before printing. See Changing Page Headers and Numbering for more information.

Update table of contents

Automatically updates the Table of Contents for your paper.

Update table of figures

Automatically updates the Table of Figures for your paper, if you have chosen to include one.

Update list of tables

Automatically updates the List of Tables for your paper, if you have chosen to include one.

SmartSort your bibliography

Automatically alphabetizes your References section using sorting rules specified for the style standard you are using.

NOTE: StyleEase now automatically sorts your references whenever you add one, so this option is obsolete.

Note: If you manually modify a list like the Table of Figures in your document, you might not want it automatically updated, so you would deselect this option.

After you click OK to prepare your document for printing, StyleEase updates the document and displays a report about the updates.
